"Shadows Swallow the Sun" was a great first book in a new series about vampires both good and evil living in the modern world. The characters are strong and the author really brought me into the world of Lydiana (Flatline) and her friends. The rich descriptions of the small town they live in and the everyday struggles of these young characters are very relate-able to many teens and young adults. Lydiana's own relationship the bad vampire Lucien is very real and is not far off from the types that we all face, even if we aren't "undead." Overall, this was a nice, short read that I highly recommend to any fan of the vampire genre of stories. It was emotional, funny, and smart. I loved it, great job, can't wait to read the next one!

Product Description:
For Lydiana, a.k.a. Flatline, it turns out there is a very fine line between true love and pure evil.

Now a vampire (thanks to the love of her life, Lucien), she is forced to deal with the fact that her heart (no longer beating now, also thanks to Lucien) may have misled her.

Every day a struggle against her baser instincts, Lydiana fights to protect innocent people from Lucien and his bloodthirsty followers. And when not battling fearsome creatures, she is battling her own internal demons, wrestling with her unresolved feelings for her no-longer-human lover.

Fortunately, she does have help in friend and fellow vampire Crimson. But are they strong enough to protect an entire community and themselves from Lucien's unrelenting crusade?
