(More customer reviews)this is a guy's book - rough and tough and action packed.the sexual exploits of its protagonist, scots photographer alec brodie, puts a stag to shame and his alcoholic intake would fell an ox.set in south korea, it's a story about bad - very bad - big business, revenge and homecoming.i've never been to south korea - don't ever expect to go - but the book's author, ron mcmillan, has and by all accounts had a wonderful time.you get the feeling the cultural impressions he treats us to - tai kwon-do, seoul night life, korean etiquette, language, etc. - are genuine and personal.
i liked the book a lot.to be fair, some parts are more polished than others but (a) it made me laugh out loud (b) sent me scurrying to the dictionary and (c) made me stop and read certain passages over again simply for the joy of reading really good writing. he's got some great one-liners in the book - just the sort of thing you'd expect from this tough-guy genre.
thank you ron mcmillan - hope there's a sequel.
