no pot of gold. There is only a moody little gang-banger on a
street corner looking for trouble.

Armed with street smarts, he became a survivalist survivinginstances that should have killed him many times. Receiving afull ride athletic scholarship out of high school, Yurcic could notattend due to his illiteracy and inability to comprehend literature. Aprofessional boxer at 23, violence became his job. After he'd seenenough of brutality, he began to teach himself how to read whicheventually lead to writing. Mentored by one of the world's foremostChicano poets Jimmy Santiago Baca, Jason now conducts poetryworkshops and gives presentations in colleges, prisons, and schoolsthroughout the United States.
