(More customer reviews)I love Vince and I love Motley and that's why I bought this book the moment it was released. Sadly, this book is not written in a professional manner. The co-author is a complete clown. It's plain to see this co-author simply recorded conversations with Vince and then played the tape back and scribbled Vince's words verbatim. When people have conversations they have a habit of saying, "like you know it was like this". Why would you include that in the book?
There are many instances where Vince is trying to explain a situation and he'll say, "we lived there and then we'd walk to this club that was located over there...do you know what I mean?"...and THAT'S exactly how it's written! You'd think the co-author would inquire as to WHAT Vince was actually trying to explain. What club? What street? Simply idiotic on the part of the co-author and publisher.
Most disappointing is that there isn't much of a difference between Vince's story in The Dirt compared to Tattoos & Tequila. As a matter of fact, some sentences are phrased exactly like Vince phrased them in The Dirt. He mentions he slept with Vanessa Marcil and that's it! Gee, THAT'S how it was phrased in The Dirt. Why not go into a little more detail? How and where did you meet Vanessa Marcil? Isn't she the woman who years ago was voted "The most beautiful woman in Hollywood"? He mentions the lineup from the 'Exposed' album and then says, "Foxx didn't last long, she was replaced by my old buddy Randy Castillo". Does the co-author even know that Vikki Foxx is a guy?
The typos in this book are not many, but enough to make you question why someone at the publisher didn't take the time to edit. Afterall, this is Vince Neil of Motley Crue!
For instance, girls is spelled "grrls"...Elektra is spelled correctly on page 108, but then on page 110 it's spelled "Electra"...also on page 108 this co-author spells A&R as "A and R"...and (on this same page) he writes the US Festival as "Us festival". On page 147, Vince says, "more about which later." You mean, more about MUCH later? Page 185, "hard likker"?It's supposed to be hard BIKER! Then there are phrases that are repeated; for example when Vince's sister is being interviewed she says on page 46, "he's a good person. he's a good person." Now, why does this co-author have to write that phrase TWICE? It's as if he was simply in a hurry to get this book out and didn't bother to put Vince's lifestory into a proper perspective. This moron simply played back his taped interviews and typed away.
Even the pictures are the same recycled pics from The Dirt...and the funny thing is that there are a bunch of pics with Vince and Tommy together and only one with Nikki and Mick as a group shot.
Vince makes it very clear that he's a hired hand and on contract for Motley and that Nikki is the boss. I love Vince being honest throughout this book. There's quite a bit of information about Vince that you never knew before, but the one's that are fimiliar are written exactly as in The Dirt. It's a good book if you're a hardcore fan, but don't be surprised if you wince at this co-author's writing style. I only wish he would've picked a better co-author instead of this clown. Vince definitely deserves better.

"So where do we start?I remember when we did The Dirt, theMötley Crue book, I was interviewed at The Grand Havana Room in Beverly Hills.A lot of people think I didn't get to say much in The Dirt. It's probably true.I didn't read it.I'm not that big a talker. Some people can f*ckin' talk ... eat up all the oxygen in a room in no time flat. I don't tend to run my mouth. It's b*llshit. All those years in rehab and counseling--the talking cure?I can't say I really got that much out of it.All that cure and I should be cured by now, don't you think? All this talking...
So forgive me if it's a bit hard for me to slice open a vein and let my blood run red all over this page for you. I'll fight you or I'll f*ck you but chances are I'll be hard pressed to sit there and talk to you. War stories. War wounds. I know, I know. Old rock stars fall hard. I'm forty-nine years old. I'm five-foot-nine, 170. The spandex is over. I've had three plastic surgeries. Still, who do you think gets laid more, me or you?But time does change a man.I ain't twenty-one anymore.
It's a miracle we survived at all. A bottle of Jack Daniel's and uncooked hot dogs do not make for a particularly well-balanced diet. We are all very lucky we didn't kill ourselves. It might look like we were trying to do that but speaking for myself, death was never my intent. I just wanted to feel good, you know? I was just looking for that kick, that high...
These days I've got businesses to run. I like the action. Something to get your heart pumping. Healthier than a syringe full of cocaine powder like I was doing back in '81 with my girlfriend Lovey, that's for sure...
But you got to admit...those days are a lot more fun to talk about..."
